Description
Description | The City of Greater Sudbury is updating its Water and Wastewater Master Plan to guide long-term infrastructure planning, support forecasted population growth, and ensure safe, reliable water and wastewater services across all communities. The study is being carried out under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process and is currently in Phases 1 and 2, focusing on identifying system needs, reviewing existing conditions, and evaluating potential servicing solutions. The master plan will establish a framework for future capital investment while improving system efficiency, resilience, and reliability, supporting financial planning and ensuring regulatory compliance. The update examines the entire water and wastewater network, including treatment plants, storage facilities, booster stations, lift stations, watermains, sewers, and forcemains, considering challenges such as system capacity, future demand, and inflow and infiltration during major storm events. Public engagement is a key component with meetings planned and feedback being accepted online. |
