Description

Description

The GRAB project seeks to drive local and regional growth in Ecuador through a triple helix model of innovation, uniting academia, government, and local stakeholders to promote sustainable practices and enhance biodiversity understanding. This initiative collaborates with key institutions, including Universidad del Azuay (UAZUAY), Universidad Estatal Amazónica (UEA), Universidad Regional Amazónica (IKIAM), Mendel University in Brno (MENDELU), Universidad de Almeria (UAL), the Ecuadorian NGO Bosque Medicinal (BM), the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), and the Czech Association for Agroforestry (AGROLESNICTVÍ). Focusing on transformative educational solutions, the project addresses forest biodiversity conservation, agro-ecology, agroforestry, and ecosystem protection. It prioritizes methodological sustainability and partnership synergy by co-developing learning modules and platforms with involved partners, ensuring impactful educational outcomes. Financial sustainability models are incorporated to secure ongoing commitment and facilitate the platform's longevity post-implementation. Aligned with the European Commission's Green Deal, GRAB endeavors to create sustainable employment opportunities, improve digital education methods, and promote environmental responsibility. Facing the environmental challenges of climate change and habitat loss, Ecuador can leverage agroforestry as a key strategy to enhance food production, generate income, and sequester carbon. The project proposes a carbon offsetting plan on agricultural lands to mitigate its carbon footprint, supporting biodiversity and climate resilience. By integrating diverse stakeholder perspectives, GRAB enhances local community capacity for adopting environmentally friendly practices within an inclusive learning environment. Ultimately, the project aims to contribute significantly to Ecuador's environmental and economic resilience, laying the groundwork for a sustainable and greener future.
