Description
Description | The Green Bridges: Virtual Exchanges for Climate Action and Social Innovation project connects youth from Europe (Spain, Germany, Denmark) and Sub-Saharan Africa (Uganda, Guinea, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Nigeria) through a programme of interactive digital events. Coordinated by Weltweit e.V., and based on the Action Network Worldwide (ANW) platform, the project addresses urgent needs in climate education, digital skills, social innovation, and inclusive participation. A consortium of nine partners from 8 countries co-leads the action. Each partner will organize thematic virtual exchanges aligned with their expertise in areas such as climate justice, circular economy, green entrepreneurship, regenerative food systems, and social innovation. Through six Work Packages, Green Bridges establishes a strong management and quality assurance framework (WP1), develops a facilitator training program for 25+ trainers (WP2), and delivers 18+ distinctive virtual exchange formats engaging 2,500+ youth (WP3). The project launches cross-country youth challenges and local site visits to support concrete climate initiatives (WP4), co-creates a Youth Innovation Toolkit with best practices(WP5), and implements a dissemination strategy including social media campaigns, webinars, and policy briefs (WP6). Key outputs include 1,500+ micro-credentials certifying digital and green skills, an expanded ANW digital platform for sustained collaboration, and multilingual resources in French/Portuguese/Spanish/English to ensure accessibility. All activities emphasize youth empowerment, low-bandwidth participation, and inclusion of marginalized groups, with results documented in impact reports for long-term policy influence. The project’s blended methodology combines non-formal education, experiential learning, peer-to-peer collaboration, and design thinking. Participants gain digital collaboration skills, green competences, entrepreneurial mindsets, and enhance their employability. |
