Description

Description

Green Games is a 24-month project lead by the Serbian National Olympic Committee. It is focused on promoting sustainability and promoting learning mobility of sport staff, as well as cooperation, quality, inclusion, creativity and innovation at the level of sport organisations and sport policies. It aims to raise awareness on the importance of the sustainability promotion, and sustainable strategies and policies in sport events, contributing to the green transformation of the sport sector. In order to achieve this goal, the project’s consortium is formed by two Olympic committees (Serbia, Romania), a Sports Club (BRC), a sport for development association (SSS), a research institute (INEFC), an international research organisation (EUNIK) and a sport MSE (SIH). The methodology of the project focused on five work packages (WPs) dealing with project management and implementation, research and mapping of good practices, definition of a protocol for green sport events, Web-App Design and Development and dissemination and impact in order to: (1) To evaluate the level of implementation of sustainability strategies in European sport events and collect good practices; (2) To provide sport event organiser bodies with knowledge on how to implement policies and strategies for sustainable sport events through the creation of a protocol for green sport events; (3) To recognise sport events that are committed to sustainability by creating a call for applicants who will be recognised as ‘Green Events’ by the Green Event Protocol; (4) To disseminate and foster the exchange of best practices and recommendations for green sport events through a green sport event network; (5) To promote sport events as models for the green transition of events in other sectors and contribute to the sports sector’s role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
