Description
Description | An international consortium led by Germany's Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing completed the first industrial scale pilot test to extract iron from low grade ore using green hydrogen. The pilot was conducted at the Oshivela site in Namibia by HyIron Green Technologies, processing approximately 80 tons of untreated iron ore into Direct Reduced Iron using an electrically powered hydrogen rotary kiln developed by TS Elino GmbH. The project aims to enable climate neutral steel production by using lower grade iron ore, reducing costs and expanding supply. |
