Description

Description

Part of the BlueRaman global project, GreenMed connects Northern Italy, part of Balkans countries (Croatia, Montenegro, and Albania), mainland Greece and Crete to the BlueMed East cable, towards Israel. Approximately 2796km of 24 fiber pairs submarine cable system will be deployed along Italy (Chioggia) and Chania (Greece) with branches to Primosten (Croatia) - Bar (Montenegro) - Bari (Italy) - Durres (Albania) – Catania (Italy) - Prevesa (Greece). Activities include a preparatory phase covering desktop study, marine survey and permits, followed by cable and infrastructure manufacturing and deployment. The project seeks to: (1) Provide a resilient alternative northbound route in the Mediterranean via the Adriatic Sea, supporting the growing South-Eastern Mediterranean markets with a diversified low-latency corridor to Europe's main digital hubs and thereby, (2) enhance the international connectivity on a new Adriatic route to support trade and business with EU partners and Balkan Candidate Countries.
