Green practices in Sport

Small sports clubs engage in many activities and organize many mass events throughout the year. The aim of this project is to educate coaches and staff of partner clubs on how to make their activities and events more environmentally friendly and ''green'', to raise awareness among young athletes on importance of environmental protection and educate them on some methods, and to share this knowledge in our networks. Our clubs and schools we work with, organize many events within a year. We work habitually, implementing practices of old. We would like to bring the partners together for mutual educational activities on the topic, have them share the knowledge and experience, and then analyze our practices, to pin-point all weak spots and find best solutions to make our activities more sustainable, environmentally friendly, cost-effective and green. We will look for best pracices and solutions that are acceptable and useful. Out of our efforts, we will produce a brochure which will contain the found solutions, suggestions and best practices, which will be useful to any organization organizing big events, sports or otherwise. At the same time, we will educate athletes and members on environmental issues of today, raise their awareness on the impact of their activity and the importance of clean environment and sustainable approach, have them search for best solutions and then utilize the knowledge in practice by helping to organize one event. Our results and the brochure will be shared in our networks and published online for further use to any interested organization in the field of sport and education. We will contribute to lessening the environmental impact of our activities and events, improve the skills of our staff and coaches to implement sustainable solutions, raise awareness and knowledge among the young athletes and members on environmental sustainability, and share our methods within our networks to help enhance green practices in sport.
