GREENCLUSIVE: activating vulnerable groups for environmental care

According to a Pew Center report of 2019, Roma people , Muslims and people with migrant backgrounds were the 3 less tolerated minority groups in Europe with different rates of citizens unfavorable to their inclusion (60% on average). With this regard, the recent pandemic has highlighted how these socially marginalized communities are also subjected to disproportionate exposure to environmental hazards, denial of access to sources of ecological sustenance such as clean air, water, and natural resources, and infringement of environmentally related human rights. For this reason, the project GREENCLUSIVE aims to involve vulnerable young people in awareness-raising activities in the field of environmental rights, in order to allow them to become capable: - on one side, to recognize their environmental needs and mapping them - on the other, demonstrate that with adequate support they are capable to carry out environmental activities and spread environmental conscience in their communities This Rights/Duties approach will contribute generating a counter-narrative about environmental attitudes of vulnerable groups and offer visibility to their positive commitment influencing public opinion and decision makers at national and EU level In order to reach these objectives, the project will foresee the following activities: - an international on line event - 3 youth led on line training about best practices on recycling, responsible consumption and green start ups - 1 training about environmental needs mapping - 12 local green activities carried out by young people - 1 training in social communication - the preparation of recommendations about environmental issues for decision makers The project will directly involve 900 young people as direct beneficiaries; it will directly target EU youth goals 3, 9 and 10 and all horizontal dimension such as environmental sustainability, digital skills, social inclusion and civic participation
