Description | Essential Utilities has invested in a data center project in Greene County, Pennsylvania, which includes the design, construction, and operation of an 18 million-gallon-per-day water treatment plant to service the data center and its dedicated behind-the-meter natural gas power plant. The project is led by International Electric Power and is powered by nearly a gigawatt of natural gas combined cycle turbines, supplemented by battery storage and electric grid interconnection. The water treatment plant is estimated to cost between $125 million and $175 million and is expected to be fully operational in 2029. |
