Greenhorn Illegal Logging Project near Yellowstone

Cancelled

The Greenhorn logging project was an illegal public land logging initiative planned in the Gravelly Mountains of southwest Montana. It involved industrial logging, road-building, and burning activities across thousands of acres of public lands in a critical wildlife corridor. The project included bulldozing 28.7 miles of new and rebuilt logging roads to enable logging and burning over 17,000 acres in prime wildlife habitat, much of it in inventoried roadless areas. The project was cancelled by the U.S. Forest Service after a lawsuit was filed by the Alliance for the Wild Rockies.
