Greenko Energies Private Limited was created to build and operate biomass power plants. It had two units: 6MW Sattenpalli Unit (KMS) and 6 MW Kadapa Unit (Sri Balaji). Sattenpalli Unit was located at Sattenapalli mandal, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. The project became operational in July 2002 and was acquired by Greenko in January 2007. The plant used Rice Husk, GN Shell and Juliflora as the major fuel. The project was registered under CDM. The project signed a 20 year PPA with APTRANSCO (state DISCOM). Total cost of setting up of the project was estimated at US$4.5 million. Kadapa Unit (Sri Balaji) was located at Chennur mandal, Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh. The project became operational in April 2004 and was acquired by Greenko in August 2006. The plant used rice husk, ground nut shell and juliflora as the major fuel. The project was registered under CDM. The project signed a 20 year PPA with APTRANSCO (state DISCOM). Total cost of setting up of the project was estimated at US$4.5 million.
