Grid connection of solar complex NOOR Midelt
Sector: Commercial • Location: Morocco
Source: KFW Bank aus Verantwortung
The measure provides for the financing of the grid connection for the first phase (NOOR Midelt I and II) of the NOOR Midelt solar complex. The solar power plants are to be connected to the El Ouali substation via a 400 kV transmission line. For this purpose, a 225 kV switchgear is being built near the site of the solar complex. This switchgear will connect the complex to the national high-voltage

Description
Description | The measure provides for the financing of the grid connection for the first phase (NOOR Midelt I and II) of the NOOR Midelt solar complex. The solar power plants are to be connected to the El Ouali substation via a 400 kV transmission line. For this purpose, a 225 kV switchgear is being built near the site of the solar complex. This switchgear will connect the complex to the national high-voltage grid via two power transmission lines. The expansion of the existing 225 kV El Ouali substation is also planned. The borrower is the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy, MASEN. However, the state-owned utility company ONEE (Office National de lElectricité et de lEau Potable) will be responsible for preparation, tendering and implementation as the project sponsor, as it has sovereignty over the transmission networks and has the necessary expertise. After completion, ONEE, as the network operator, will also own the line and be responsible for its operation. The FC module will enable the renewable energy generated by the NOOR Midelt solar complex to be fed into the national electricity grid, thereby contributing to addressing the core challenges in the Moroccan energy sector. The electricity produced by the solar complex will cover the electricity consumption of around 1.5 million people and avoid emissions of at least 700,000 tons of CO2 per year. |
