Description

This funding opportunity will be used to implement the Yellowstone Grizzly Bear Conservation Strategy to assure recovered status for the Yellowstone grizzly bear population. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (Service) and Wyoming Game and Fish Department recognize the importance of this effort and as signatories of the Yellowstone Grizzly Bear Conservation Strategy agree to cooperate in implementing this strategy. This agreement would be to implement the bear management and outreach responsibilities in the Yellowstone ecosystem under the Yellowstone grizzly bear conservation strategy. Goals are to assist population monitoring efforts, reduce numbers of bear/human conflicts, and increase knowledge among the public on how to avoid such conflicts. Tasks include: Assist monitoring efforts â¿¿ capture a collaring of female bears as directed by the IGBST; during spring summer and fall. Reduce bear/human conflicts â¿¿ work with landowners to assist in keeping livestock from bears, capture and relocate nuisance bears and remove such bears as necessary in consultation with the Service, assist landowners with electric fencing as needed, give outreach and education talks and presentations to the public; during spring summer and fall.
