Description

Description

The Ministry of Power (MoP) in India has relaxed the norms for group captive power projects, allowing them to meet the 51% electricity consumption requirement collectively rather than individually. This change aims to boost open access adoption by commercial and industrial consumers, improve financial viability and bankability of group captive projects, and encourage participation from large industrial houses and C&I units. The amendments also protect captive consumers from paying surcharges during verification and treat holding companies and subsidiaries collectively as a single captive user.
