Growth in Highways Works - The critical need for Asset Searches

ongoing

Richard Broome, Managing Director at LSBUD, talks about the increase in asset searches post-pandemic and why the highways sector needs to keep underground assets in mind during construction. The 'Digging Up Britain' report in 2021 showed a 10% increase in search enquiries, with highways-related work slowly returning to pre-pandemic levels. The Government's focus on large-scale infrastructure projects and meeting 5G, broadband, and electric vehicle targets will lead to more digging work. However, challenges remain with only 15% of water companies sharing their data, leaving many pipelines unprotected.
