Description

GS Inima Brasil, a subsidiary of the South Korean group GS, was awarded the 30-year concession contract to expand, rehabilitate and operate the sewerage treatment facilities of the city of Sertaozinho (state of Sao Paulo) in April 2012. The 30-year contract was awarded by the municipality's central administration. The population of Sertaozinho was estimated at 112,000. Two other groups took part in the bidding process: Foz de Sertaozinho (a partnership of Foz do Brasil S.A. and Odebrecht) and Aguas de Sertaozinho (a artnership of Delta Construcoes S/A, Tejofran de Saneamento e Servicos Ltda and J. Malucelli Constrututora de Obras S.A.). GS Inima took over the operation of the water and sewerage services in the second semester of 2012. The private sponsor committed to invest US$ 123 million (BRL 240 million) over the life of the project.
