Description
Description | The Reconstruction and Local Development Project aims to improve living standards and to make self-development sustainable for the population, mostly indigenous people, living in extreme poverty in 16 municipalities by transferring financial and technical resources and resource management know-how to the beneficiaries. There are three components. The communities subprojects component finances small social and economic infrastructure and cultural subprojects, that have been formulated, prioritized, and managed by the communities themselves. The second component focuses on financing capacity building activities that help municipal governments and participating beneficiary organizations to formulate, plan, evaluate, finance, and execute projects. The third component, institution building, introduces and tests innovative management methods to improve institutional response and increase project efficiency, finances social communications campaigns, trains staff, conducts project impact evaluations, and supervises and monitors activities of a FONAPAZ (National Peace Fund) project coordinating unit. |
