The Second Guadalupe Hydroelectric Project covers the foreign exchange cost of the second stage project as well as foreign exchange requirements under the first stage project (See report no. TO203). The project comprises the addition of an 18 MW hydro unit in the Troneras plant, three hydro units of 40 MW each at the Guadalupe III plant, the construction of an earth fill dam, the construction of transmission facilities, and the expansion of the Medellin distribution system. The cost of the development is equivalent to $185 per kilowatt of installed capacity. The low cost of the hydro installation makes it comparable in capital cost to a thermal installation of equivalent capacity.
