Description

Description

The Guajoyo Hydroelectric Project for El Salvador provides a loan to assist in financing the foreign exchange needed to construct the Guajoyo hydroelectric generating plant near the outlet of Lake Guija on the El Salvador-Guatamala international boundary, and a transmission line connecting the plant with the transmission system of the Comision Ejecutive Hydroelectrica del Rio Lempa (CEL) at Santa Ana. This report is based on information supplied by CEL, a detailed report by their consulting engineers, and on field studies and discussions by a Bank mission which visited the project during March and April 1960. The project to be financed consists of the Guajoyo hydroelectric generating station of 15 MW capacity, a step-up sub-station, a single circuit transmission line 30 km in length connecting the plant with the CEL system at Santa Ana, and the necessary extensions to the existing Santa Ana and San Salvador substations.
