Guinea-Bissau - Fishing Sector Support Project

The Fisheries Sector Support Project is part of the country's macroeconomic policy aimed at reducing poverty and improving the food conditions of the population. It is a four-year project whose overall cost is estimated at UA 6.62 million. It is designed to address the main constraints identified in the fisheries sector. Its main achievements have been identified as follows: (i) Institutional support and retraining of 201 people at the production level and 91 people at the administrative level; (ii) the creation of an enabling environment for the establishment of the private sector in industrial fishing; (iii) the creation of favorable conditions for the landing of artisanal and industrial production; (iv) rational management of fishery resources through support research and maritime surveillance; and (v) organization, management and implementation of personnel and resources necessary for the proper execution of project activities.
