Description | The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is currently evaluating responses submitted by design-build teams seeking to design and construct two 225-ft-wide floodgates on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in Houma (GIWW West Floodgate) and Larose, La., (GIWW East Floodgate) as part of the Morganza-to-the-Gulf Hurricane Protection System. GIWW West is located west of the center of Houma and approximately five miles downstream from the intersection of the GIWW and the Houma Navigation Canal. GIWW East is located approximately 1.5 miles north of the intersection of the GIWW and Bayou Lafourche. |
