Description
Description | Construction has begun on a 133.5 km section of the Gulf of Mexico railway project connecting Saltillo to Nuevo Laredo in northern Mexico. This project is part of Mexico's National Railway Plan to modernize rail infrastructure and reintroduce long-distance passenger services. The 393.9 km rail line will link Saltillo, Monterrey, and Nuevo Laredo, running alongside Canadian Pacific Kansas City's existing freight corridor. The line is designed exclusively for passenger services with a single track and passing loops every 20 km. It will feature modern infrastructure including 52 railway bridges, 42 level crossings, and new stations at Nuevo Laredo, Anáhuac, and Lampazos de Naranjo. The railway will support speeds of 160 to 200 km/h, significantly reducing travel times and enhancing connectivity between northern Mexican cities and the US border. |
