Description | IFC will provide up to US$99 million as senior loans to Guodong Network Communication Group Co. Ltd. (“Guodong” or the “Company”) to finance the Company’s roll-out of over 9,000 towers in 9 poor provinces (each of which has GDP per capita in a range of 20 – 50% below the national average) within the frontier regions in China (the “Project”). The Project is IFC’s first investment in the telecom tower sector in China. The Project will support private sector development in an SOE-dominated sector, promote inclusion and accelerate the efficient deployment of critical digital infrastructure in the poorest regions of the country. Guodong is the largest privately-owned and independent tower company in China with a nationwide network of 19,875 installed tower sites in 300 cities across 30 provinces as of June 30, 2020. |
