Description

Description

The Palestinian NGO Project has three key objectives: (1) to deliver services to the poor and marginalized in Palestinian society, using nongovernmental organizations as the delivery mechanism; (2) to improve the institutional capacity of NGOs receiving grants under the project; and (3) to support efforts by the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Palestinian NGO sector to strengthen their working relationship, including support for the development of a positive legal framework for the sector. The five project components consist of: (1) development grants to NGOs in health, education, agriculture, and social welfare; (2) hardship grants to selected NGOs providing valuable services and currently facing financial difficulty; (3) capacity-building grants and research grants to qualified institutions or individuals to develop the capacity of Palestinian NGOs to plan, manage, and monitor projects, to improve information and analysis on the NGO sector and/or to benefit NGO relations with the Palestinian Authority (PA), to provide capacity-building assistance to the project management organization; (4) developing legislation and enhancing PA-NGO coordination; and (5) project management costs, including hands-on technical assistance and audits and evaluation studies.
