Description | The project involved the creation of a new 16-acre wetland complex and vernal pool complex at Funk-DeWald Nature Preserve, managed by Heidelberg University. It aims to capture drainage from nearby farmland before flowing into the East Branch of Wolf Creek, part of the Sandusky River watershed, holding more water during storm events and allowing for greater nutrient removal of phosphorus and nitrogen. The project also included removal of invasive plant species from 47 acres of the preserve and plans to open the preserve to the public with hiking trails. |
