Hagensborg Community Potable Water Distribution and Treatment

The proposed project will construct a water treatment plant and replace the existing distribution system within the Hagensborg Water System. At completion the private water system will be dissolved and the Central Coast Regional District will assume ownership and operation. The project will address the requirements issued by Vancouver Coastal Health to have the long term boil water notice lifted through meeting the Health Canada Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality and having a dual barrier treatment system as required for surface sourced water. The project works will include: construction of a water treatment plant; installation of filtration equipment, UV and chlorine disinfection, controls and equipment; connection of the existing backup well to the new treatment plant; replacement of approximately 8.5 km of watermains; installation of approximately 30 fire hydrants; replacement of approximately 150 water service connections; and related equipment, appurtenances, and rehabilitation of road surfaces impacted by project works.
