Description

The project capacity is 312-MW (3x12-MW in diesel plants and 2x138-MW in gas plants) with a planned expansion to 1300-MW in two stages (450-MW + 400-MW) over 10 years. The project includes a transmission and distribution network for the local industrial park and is run by Yangpu Power (Hainan) Co. Ltd., a joint venture between Kumagai Gumi (Hong Kong) Ltd. (30%), Siemens AG (20%), Maeda Corp. (20%), and Ringo Trading Ltd. (30%). The initial investment is $257 million with a further $500 million in expected costs for the expansion. The turnkey contract for the power plant went to Kraftwerk Union, a subsidiary of Siemens AG. Yangpu-Siemens, another subsidiary of Siemens, built the transmission and distribution network in a contract worth $25 million. Construction started on June 22, 1992 and the power plant went online in 1994. None None
