HAITI COLLAPSE is a timely and powerful feature documentary set in a nation on the brink of collapse. As Haiti descends into chaos, gang leader Jimmy 'Barbecue' Cherizier leads a violent rebellion, claiming he’s the only one who can save the country. We follow him closely, alongside UN diplomat-turned-politician Garry Conille, who positions himself as a democratic alternative ahead of the 2025 elections. The president has been ousted, the streets are controlled by armed groups, and the future remains dangerously uncertain. With unique access to power players, the UN, civil society, and the diaspora, the film investigates the deeper forces driving the crisis. At the heart of it is a corrupt system upheld by the transnational cocaine trade, with Haiti serving as a key transit hub between South and North America. Rather than providing easy answers, HAITI COLLAPSE explores blurred lines between good and evil, rebels and politicians, victims and perpetrators. The film raises urgent questions about democracy, foreign intervention, and global complicity, and aims to spark public debate and reflection. Directed by Martin Tamm Andersen in close collaboration with Haitian co-director Jeremie Dupin, the film draws on local knowledge and journalistic insight. It is produced by Kasper Lykke Schultz and Andreas Dalsgaard for Elk Development (Denmark), in co-production with Ken Wardrop, Andrew Freedman, and Jessie Hayden of Venom Films (Ireland), who will contribute post-production elements including sound, music, and grading. Canadian creative producer Tamara Dawit of Gobez Media Inc. will lead diaspora crew recruitment in Canada, ensuring local representation in the filmmaking process. With its urgent themes, unprecedented access, and international creative collaboration, HAITI COLLAPSE is positioned to resonate with audiences worldwide and contribute meaningfully to the global discourse on failed states, foreign intervention, and the consequences of geopolitical neglect.
