Haji Jabar Braghi Mosque Sustainable Project

completed

The Haji Jabar Braghi Mosque in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq is the region's first sustainable mosque. It integrates on-site water recycling and renewable energy systems within a fully functioning place of worship, serving as a scalable model for wider adoption across Iraq and the Gulf. The project includes a decentralised resource management system that treats and reuses water for irrigation and cleaning, reducing pressure on municipal water supplies. It is part of a broader environmental strategy by the Rwanga Foundation, which also includes tree planting and solar-powered community initiatives.
