Description | Hitachi Rail has been awarded a contract by DB InfraGO to modernize a 200-kilometer section of the Hamburg-Berlin rail corridor. The project includes renewal of electronic interlocking systems, lineside components, train protection systems, power supply, axle counting devices, interior equipment, and adjustment of track layouts. Two new crossovers will be built in Zernitz and Vietznitz. A continuous automatic train control system (LZB) will be developed to maintain speeds up to 230 km/h. The modernization aims to digitalize rail infrastructure, increase speed, control, safety, and support Germany's sustainability goals. |
