Description | The Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub (HGHH) is a 100MW green hydrogen project being developed on the site of the former Moorburg coal-fired power plant. The project is developed by asset manager Luxcara and municipal utility Hamburger Energiewerke, designated as an Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) by the EU, unlocking substantial government support. The federal government and the city of Hamburg jointly awarded €250 million towards the project and the construction of the first 40km of the connected HH-WIN pipeline network. HGHH is expected to start operations in 2027, producing 10,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, intended for use at the nearby Port of Hamburg and surrounding industries. |
