Description

The Hamilton Transit Alliance, led by Aecon Infrastructure with Hatch, Egis, and Systra as designers, has been selected to deliver the first major package of work on the Hamilton LRT. This contract includes preparatory work along the LRT route such as utility relocations, grade separations, road reconstruction, upgraded sidewalks, and traffic control systems. The project will deliver 14 kilometers of frequent and reliable light-rail transit through Hamilton with 17 new transit stops and support approximately 50,000 daily riders. Key civil and utility infrastructure improvements include sewer replacement and separation, watermain replacement, road reconstruction, sidewalk upgrades, and traffic signal upgrades. The project has entered an alliance development phase lasting 18-24 months to progress designs, costs, and construction schedule.
