Description
Description | The Hamni Bridge over the Tirthan River in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, was destroyed in the 2023 floods. The bridge connects Chamni and nearby villages in Banjar subdivision. Villagers, led by former serviceman Hari Singh, took the initiative to rebuild the bridge through collective funding and voluntary labor, supplementing the insufficient government sanction of Rs 4 lakh. Local organizations also contributed financially under CSR initiatives, and a resident entrepreneur donated land for the bridge. The project aims to restore connectivity for around 250 households, improving access to schools, hospitals, markets, and boosting local agriculture, horticulture, and tourism. |
