The project involves constructing three new water treatment plants and expanding an existing facility to centralize the water system in Hampstead. It aims to improve water quality by consolidating multiple wells into centralized locations and incorporating Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC) equipment to remove harmful substances like PFAS chemicals and manganese. The project also includes bringing Well 33 back online by blending its water with others to resolve manganese contamination, integrating two wells offline for 15 years due to nitrate levels, and constructing new pipelines to connect wells to the treatment plants, including a new shallow water treatment plant near Hampstead Elementary School.
