Description | In September 1997, Road King Infrastructure signed two 18-year joint venture contracts for the upgrade and operation of National Highway 309. The was a possible extension of 2 years. The 35-km and 44-km sections of this class I highway link Shanxi and Shandong and pass through Hebei. The road has direct access to Jinan, the capital city of Hebei Province. Road King obtained a 70% equity share in the joint ventures in return for a total investment of HK$ 262 million (US$33.8 million). Road King funds its projects from internally generated funds and long-term debt. This includes a US$ 138 million syndicated loan and US$ 140 million 10-year fixed rate notes arranged in 1997. Toll collected started in October 1997, with tolls ranging from Rmb 10 to Rmb 60 per vehicle. |
