Description | South Korea and the United States are advancing the MASGA (Making American Shipbuilding Great Again) project, with South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources requesting support such as tariff exceptions for steel, parts, and other shipbuilding materials in Pennsylvania, where Hanwha Philly Shipyard is located. Hanwha Ocean acquired Philly Shipyard in 2024 and currently builds training vessels and medium-sized tankers. The plan includes investing in expanding the site and increasing automation facilities to improve annual production capacity from 1.5 ships to over 10 ships. |
