The project involves the development of a 409,000 sq m harbourside cultural district for the city of Sanya on the southern tip of Hainan island in China.The project aims to create a clear distinction between the district's performing arts theatre, exhibition galleries, and commercial and conference areas. Spanning 26.7 hectares, the space will feature plazas, gardens, marinas, and a harborside boardwalk, along with cultural, exhibition, and conference facilities. Additionally, the area will incorporate residential spaces, shops, restaurants, and offices. The district will integrate eco-friendly features such as photovoltaic panels, rainwater collection systems, and large roof overhangs to provide shade indoors and shelter outdoor terraces. The project's orientation is planned to optimize natural indirect sunlight and utilize natural ventilation from cooling winds.
