The facility upgrades consist of two components: 1) install new energy efficient lighting in the building; and 2) replacement of tub and bath chair in bathing suite. Rationale: 1) Currently most of the ballasts in the light fixtures have to be replaced by an electrician, at the facility’s expense, so go long periods of time before replacement. This poses a safety risk for the Elders and staff. The new energy efficient LED light fixtures can be changed by in-house staff thus increasing safety and reducing costs; and 2) the equipment is excess of 10 years old and is damaged. Infection control recommends that the equipment be replaced as it has been deemed a risk.
