Description | The project envisages implementation of sewage treatment plant (STP) to treat the predominantly domestic raw sewage to the applicable effluent characteristics at Haridwar district under National Mission for Clean Ganga (Namami Ganga). Its capacity will be 82 million liters daily (MLD). Currently, the entire sewage is being pushed into the river without any treatment mechanism and is a major source of pollution in the river. The plant is to be constructed in 18 months post which it will be operated and maintained by HNB Engineers Private Ltd. for the next 15 years. Concession was awarded in a competitive bidding process based on lowest cost of constructions and operation. IFC helped structure the first PPP for sewage treatment using HAM model. The total investment as per concession agreement is R171.3 crore ($26.88 million). Grant amounts to $ 10.75 million As of December, 2017 the lender/s is/are not disclosed.
