Haripur Marubeni combined cycle plan

On February 2011, Marubeni (Japan, 100 %) a private Power Producer, was signed a Build Own and Operate agreement with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) for the construction and operation for a 20 years term of a 360 MW, combined cycle (natural gas) power plant at Haripur. Under the BOO agreement, Marubeni was to supply 360 MW of energy to BPDB for a term of 20 years. The remainder of the energy was to be sold to the public. Following the direct negotiation process, Marubeni was awarded to set up a 360 MW combined cycle power plant at Haripur. The total project cost was 370 US millions. The project reached financial closure in March 2012, when the loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency was accorded. The 370 US millions total cost of the project’s construction are supported by the Japenese ODA Loan FUNDED, from the Japanese government.
