The Haripur Power Project for Bangladesh aims to increase power availability through low-cost private generation. The project consists of financing and building the Haripur Power Plant, a gas-fired combined cycle electric power plant to be developed, owned, and operated by a wholly owned subsidiary of the AES corporation. The combined cycle gas turbine plant will include a gas-fired combustion turbine and its generator, a heat recovery boiler using the waste heat of the combustion turbine, a steam turbine and its generator, and all necessary auxiliary facilities. The project will incorporate all necessary infrastructure for operations, including administrative offices, a plant control room, warehousing facilities, and workshops. An electrical transmission line will be built to connect the plant's switchyard to the existing Haripur sub-station.. A steel pipeline will connect the gas pipeline to the power plant, providing a safe and efficient method for the transportation of natural gas. A regulating and metering station will be constructed to control the volume and flow of gas entering the power plant. The regulating and metering station will also contain facilities to adjust gas pressure under various operating conditions as well as gas metering and flow measurement. Operating personnel will be recruited and trained for the project.
