Description | The Brigadier General Charles Young Playground in Harlem underwent an $11 million renovation to convert a neglected dirt field into a 150,000-square-foot synthetic turf multi-sport facility. The upgraded field accommodates baseball, softball, soccer, football, and lacrosse, with improved drainage, synthetic turf, fencing, backstops, dugouts, benches, drinking fountains, and a sports mister. The project was developed through a public-private partnership including NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, NYPD, and the PitCCh In Foundation. Additional planned upgrades include $2.5 million for field house bathroom improvements. |
