Today’s geopolitical situation and EU’s Trans-European Transport Network's (TEN-T) regional initiative Rail Baltic are linking the region’s railway sector’s needs closer together than ever. Due to the cross-border nature of the railway transport and joint need of regional enterprises for further integration with European Railway system the project aims to reduce fragmentation of railway VET in the region. Cross-border cooperation enables the educational institutions of the 3 Central-Baltic countries to achieve the necessary methodological strength to develop integrated approach on how the VET institutions can help the regional railway enterprises to fulfil the requirements of European common railway network. With the joint effort of all the major railway VET providers in the region the project aims to jointly develop aligned specialisation modules that take into account the needs of the regional labour market, covering regional aspects and the EU directives. 5 multipurpose specialisation modules will be designed to be usable both for full degree obtainers and for in-service training programs. By reducing fragmentation of railway education through jointly developed regional specialisation modules the project aims to contribute to the programmes objective of development and further integration of the Central Baltic labour market. Aligned modernised specialisation modules will significantly improve the quality and cross-border cooperation abilities of the future workforce in the railway sector.
