Description | Harrington Road in Chetpet features mostly well-maintained, wide pavements following many principles of Complete Streets. The project was an initiative of the Greater Chennai Corporation with inputs from residents of the Harrington Road Association. Maintenance is currently undertaken by Urbaser, a private contractor under the civic body. The road includes spacing for utility cables and a compromise on road width to accommodate wider pavements. Challenges include two-wheelers parking and riding on footpaths and damage to granite slabs by electricity board repairs. |
