Harrison Road Bridge Closure over Red Cedar River

The Harrison Road bridge over the Red Cedar River in East Lansing is being fully closed starting June 9 due to newly discovered critical structural issues with the high-pressure steam system near the bridge deck. The closure is necessary to complete critical work and avoid extending the project timeline into the fall, which would increase traffic congestion. The bridge deck replacement work began on May 5, with initial plans to keep lanes open, but the discovery of structural problems has necessitated a full closure. Local traffic access will be maintained to certain areas, and detours will be posted.
