The current authoritarian and antidemocratic tendencies spread all over the EU often prevent citizens, among them young people, from being agents of change. Hate speech, fake news, populism that often leads to government repression, as well as other phenomena contribute to the shrinking of civic space, irrespective of a country’s democratic tradition, prevailing social cleavages, wealth, human rights record, or geographical location. Activating a youth discourse, based on its cultural codes and communicative resources through social networks, will allow the message to reach other young people, promoting a “contagion” in taking action to counteract manifestations of hatred and intolerance. Thus, the project wants to promote the generation and promotion of a network of young activists (aged 19-28) of a transnational character in the fight against discourse of hatred and limitations to social and civic participation. To this end, it will foster cooperation and collaborative work among European youth organizations, through their expertise and good practices, and will design, test and consolidate an innovative training methodology that facilitates the empowerment and participation of young people and will lead to the creation of new forms of aggregation aimed at activism. Specifically, the project wants to: • improve the skills of young activists to be able to prevent and combat hate speech, to educate the youth about equality and acceptance, conduct sensitivity trainings; • realise a form of activation based on the creation of small territorial groups coordinated with each other at a multimedia level recognisable externally through codes of conduct voted on and stabilised through smart contracts and groups of activists certified in their skills and affiliation through guilds consolidated through blockchain; • increase the capacity building of the participating organizations with best practices for future activities in the field of hate speech and sensitivity.
