Description | Cellana LLC is planning to construct a commercial-scale algae cultivation facility on a 54-acre site adjacent to its demonstration-scale facility in Kailua-Kona. The project scope includes design and construction of open algae cultivation troughs and raceways, and purchase and installation of closed photobioreactors and extraction equipment. The facility will produce 700 to 800 metric tons of proprietary algae strains per year for use in the production of oils, animal feed and biofuel. The company expects to select an EPC firm for the project in late 2018 or early 2019. |
