Description | The Hawaiian Islands Fiber Link project is a $120 million subsea cable system designed to connect all of the Hawaiian Islands with next-generation fiber technology. The project aims to provide high-speed internet connectivity across the islands, closing connectivity gaps between islands and rural communities, and ensuring equitable access as Hawaii's first open-access, carrier-neutral interisland fiber infrastructure. The system will link Oahu, Hawaii Island, Maui, Kauai, Lanai, and Molokai with fiber technology, with completion and service access expected by late 2026. The cables are designed to last 25 years. |
