Description
Description | The Hay River Water Treatment Plant Feasibility and Preliminary Design project would produce a feasibility study to further develop options available for rectifying issues of water treatment. A preliminary design would be completed in accordance with the feasibility study’s recommendation. The design would be used to support applications for major infrastructure funding for a detailed design and construction. The Government of Northwest Territories has recommended a full $15M+ replacement of the current water treatment plant facility given concerns of recent lake high turbidity on water quality, and aging equipment and structures in the 40 year old plant. The Water Treatment Plant is also the source of delivered potable water to Enterprise, K’atlodeeche FIrst Nation, and Kakisa. In 2020, boil water advisories were in effect for over 60 days. Five boil water advisories have been raised since 2011 (3 in 2020). An inspection of the water intake line is pending to determine the performance of the line and if it is having an impact on water quality. |
