Hayden Geothermal Heating and Cooling Project

The town of Hayden, Colorado is drilling into subterranean thermal resources to heat and cool buildings in a new industrial and business park. The project involves drilling boreholes about 1,000 feet deep and installing ground-loop piping to transfer heat between the earth and buildings' heating and cooling systems. The municipal utility managing the system will spread infrastructure costs over customer energy bills. The development aims to provide more than 70 jobs and deliver energy costs roughly 40% below conventional heating systems, supporting economic transition from coal.
